Kuziba Teatro

Kuziba is a little devil who lives in cracks between rocks and crevices in the earth. Born from Yiddish folklore, he materialised in 2009 when Annabella Tedone, Raffaella Giancipoli and Bruno Soriato met. Since discovering this underground world, he spends his time doing theatre and enjoys teasing humans. He feeds on the lives of others, sleeps on beds of old junk, and is greedy for printed paper. When he sleeps, he dreams of a living theatre, made for people, with people, within arm's reach; a theatre he does not yet know, a theatre that does not exist! We seek paths in the theatre that does not exist, transforming the theatre into places that are conducive to the creation of participatory theatrical actions. In 2010/11, the company carried out its first experiment, Il teatro ti sPiazza (Theatre takes you by surprise), a festive provocation for surprise squares, which took the form of a theatrical caravan in some villages in the Murge area of Puglia (winner of the 2010 Principi Attivi competition organised by the Puglia Region). In 2012, it launched the project Il teatro ti sCarta, nights of fire for wrapped libraries, thanks to the Officina teatrale rianimazione libri (Theatre Workshop for Book Resuscitation), which led to the creation of “Fire Night”, a participatory theatrical action in libraries and bookshops. In 2013, he created Il teatro ti sPaglia (Theatre you Straw), the first experiment in straw theatre in Puglia in collaboration with the Rete Nazionale dei Teatri di Paglia (National Network of Straw Theatres): an amphitheatre on the outskirts built with bales of straw together with the people. In 2013, he created Il teatro ti sPaglia, the first experiment in straw theatre in Puglia, in collaboration with the National Network of Straw Theatres: an amphitheatre on the outskirts of the city built with bales of straw together with the local people, where workshops, shows and meetings take place. In 2014, Il teatro ti sBarca was created, which, in the wake of previous projects, involved the population of seaside villages in workshops that transformed the port into a setting of anticipation. In 2015, Il teatro ti sFiora took shape, wild incursions into invisible gardens, a theatrical event dedicated to the relationship with the plant world for gardens, greenhouses and botanical gardens. Alongside their work in producing shows, the members of the company have been involved for years in training activities through theatre workshops for young people and children, and projects to promote reading in schools, libraries and bookshops. With director and educator Rossana Farinati, they developed the workshop for secondary schools Antigone. Attraverso il conflitto con il mito (Antigone. Through conflict with myth). Among the shows in the repertoire are: Rita (finalist in the 2007 Scenario Award), Vassilissa and Babaracca.
