Piccolo Sushi is the story of a young boy searching for himself and his place in the world. In a remote corner of Japan, he finds himself unwittingly crushed by the traditions and expectations of his family, who want him to carry on the family business of selling fish on the street. But Sushi, despite his best efforts, fails because his eyes imagine, his hands create and his mind wanders far away. Only a voice guides him on his journey, a familiar voice made up of precious teachings, haikus, which are rooted in Japanese culture and shine like stars to cheer him up and show him the way. Thus, a world is drawn that lives on evoked sounds, desires carried by the wind, contrasts and dreams that take shape before our amazed eyes. The protagonist of our story seeks his path and tells us about the conflict that each and every one of us, sooner or later, finds ourselves having to face, poised between the expectations of the society in which we live and the deep desires that inhabit us.
The audience to whom this work is dedicated can identify with our Sushi, can feel close to it, like all those things to which we feel we belong. Piccolo Sushi is a hymn to rebirth, to the determination to follow one's desires and impulses, whatever form and substance they may take.
