MOSTLY NON-VERBAL: A concert and dance performance with no text, or only a few words used rhythmically with the sounds and easily translatable.
SCOOOOOTCH! is a performance for young audiences at the crossroads of sound, movement, and a material: tape. In relation to the space around them, three “material performers” play with the endless possibilities that emerge from the encounter between tape and their bodies. This tape, which grows beyond them and transforms them, leads them through multiple metamorphoses, embracing the joy of the unexpected and listening to the unpredictability of the material.
Unrolling this adhesive material between one another, between their bodies and the space, and building simple shelters with brooms, the performance brings to light the way we inhabit the world. SCOOOOOTCH! is a playful exploration of transformation, in which the audience is ultimately invited to take part.
Becoming a metaphor for the bonds that connect us to others, SCOOOOOTCH!, through the collective experience it creates, invites us to ask: “How do I inhabit the world? What relationships do I create with others?”
In a scenographic space that takes shape in real time, this performance places an unusual material at its centre: adhesive tape.
The three members of a feminist rock band build a new shared living space on the stage of their exile. They unroll and follow the adhesive tape, tracing graphic lines and creating new spaces within a circular setting.
Unpredictable and random, the strips of tape eventually spread onto the performers’ bodies, revealing an entire web of invisible relationships. With very little, they create shelters and play with their physicality as puppet-dancers, actresses and sound composers. Their sense of sisterhood and collaboration leads the audience towards a reflection on the ideas of shelter, transformation and sharing.
The imagery of women’s wrestling is playfully brought into the performance as a way of destroying everything and starting again somewhere else, in a better way.
