Principio Attivo Teatro

Principio Attivo Teatro is a professional artistic collective working across different fields of the performing arts. The collective is made up of actors, playwrights, set designers and educators who have been working together for over fifteen years.
The company’s primary vocation is the creation of performances and events linked to new dramaturgy and, more generally, to original writing for both young audiences and adults. The company has collaborated with various external artists, including Valentina Diana, Gianluigi Gherzi, Fabrizio Saccomanno, Barbara Toma and Francesco Niccolini.
Over the years, the company has received several awards and recognitions, including two Eolo Awards, finalist positions for the Scenario Infanzia and In-Box Blu Awards, as well as the Museo Cervi – Teatro per la Memoria Award, the Festival di Resistenza 2020 Award and the 2022 “Ermo Colle” Critics’ Award.
Alongside its numerous productions, which have toured internationally in Brazil, China, Japan, Chile and across Europe, the company has for several years also developed projects and festivals, including Kids, International Festival of Theatre and Arts for New Generations, which has been held in Lecce for the past ten years.
The company also maintains a strong commitment to working within its local community, collaborating with schools, municipalities and associations to create projects specifically designed for different contexts.
For us, theatre is a means of engaging with the contemporary world, constantly experimenting with new dramaturgical approaches capable of reading, interpreting and illuminating the present.
